Fun Day

September High School Fun Day
By Ali Al-Yahya

After the Academic Assembly recognizing all cadets who made the Honor Roll or President’s List, we were dismissed to the field, where we were given instructions on how fun day was going to work. After Major Fiora gave instructions about how to repel, the cadets were divided into three groups, each participating in one of three events that were organized by the JROTC program. The three events were rappel tower, ropes course, and obstacle course.
Many of the high school faculty participated with the cadets on the rappel tower, such as CPT Griffin, CPT Davis, CPT Hensen and CPT Blomquist, as well as, Principal Aull. I believe it was the activity that everyone enjoyed most. The second activity was the ropes course, which was pretty hard to do. It took most of your body strength and balance in order to complete it. Most cadets did not give up and made it all the way to the end of the course. The last activity was the obstacle course down in the woods. This obstacle course required a lot of teamwork, because you couldn’t advance to the next obstacle without your team. I believe this was one of the hardest obstacles because it required a lot of climbing and using a lot of your body strength.

After every activity was accomplished by every team there was still time left, so cadets were given the option to continue to rappel if they wanted to. Others took advantage of the free time and talked with friends while snacking on drinks and cookies that LTC Aull provided. It seems like everyone had a good time and looks forward to the October fun day.
